What is Gruha Lakshmi Scheme?

The Karnataka government launched Gruha Lakshmi scheme in Mysuru on 30 August 2023, offering monthly assistance of Rs 2,000 to about 1.1 crore women who are heads of their households.

The Gruha Lakshmi Yojana was launched to support women and improve their livelihood. It aims to provide financial assistance to housewives, landless women, and agricultural women workers by providing them with financial assistance through a Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) mode.

During the presentation of Karnataka’s 15th consecutive budget, Chief Minister Siddaramaiah earmarked ₹28,608 crore for the Gruha Lakshmi scheme. 1.33 crore women have benefited from the scheme. As of the end of January, 1.17 crore women have signed up for the scheme, and ₹11,726 crore has been directly deposited into the accounts of the recipients so far.

You can also track your DBT Status on the DBT Karnataka App. Please follow the below steps to check your status.

  • Download the DBT Karnataka App.
  • Please log in using your mPIN or start the registration process if you have not already registered.
  • You can register by entering your name, mobile number, address, gender, date of birth, and Aadhaar number.
  • After logging in with your mPIN, you can see 4 options on your mobile screen: Payment Status, Seeding Status, Profile, Contact.
  • You can track your DBT Status by clicking on the payment status.

Online Application Process

Here’s a step-by-step guide on how to apply for the Gruha Lakshmi scheme:

  • Navigate to Services: Click on the “Apply for Services” link, then select “View All Available Services“.
  • Select Gruhalakshmi Scheme: Find and click on the Gruha Lakshmi scheme from the list of services.
  • Fill Out the Application Form: The application form will open on a new page. Make sure you have all the required information ready to fill in.
  1. Personal Details Section: Enter your Ration Card number, name, and category (Scheduled Tribe, OBC Minority, Other). Choose your category and enter your mobile number.
  2. Bank Account Details Section: Choose if the scheme funds should be transferred to your Aadhaar-linked bank account or another account. Provide the IFSC code, bank account number, branch name, and bank.
  3. Self-Declaration Section: Answer yes or no to questions about income tax and GST filings.
  4. Aadhaar Verification: Click on the link for Aadhaar verification, enter the OTP received on your Aadhaar-linked mobile number.

Submit the Application: Enter the verification code, review your information, and click on the “Submit” button. Save the receipt as a PDF or take a screenshot for your records.

Eligibility

  • The women must belong to Antyodaya, BPL or APL families.
  • The benefit will be granted to the women who have been identified as the head of a family on the Antyodaya, BPL, and APL ration cards issued by the Government.
  • The scheme benefits only one woman in a family.
  • Women government employees are not eligible for the scheme.
  • Women taxpayers are not eligible to receive benefits from the scheme.
  • The scheme’s benefits won’t be available to the women of the family whose husband is paying income tax or filing GST returns.
